Curriculum

Our curriculum is taught through cross curricular themes.

We make links across the whole school, so that KS1 and KS2 are studying similar topics at the same time.

Our KS2 curriculum is delivered through a 4 year rolling programme, which ensures that children who spend 4 years in a class do not repeat the same theme.

Science is taught on a 2 year cycle, with children learning more difficult aspects of a subject each time they meet it.

We follow the National Curriculum, which can be found here.

English & Literacy

Within Early Years and KS1, our children learn to read and write through a synthetic phonics approach. We follow the Ruth Miskin Read, Write Inc programme where children learn to read and write a letter or collection of letters which make a particular sound. The sounds are divided into three sets: Set 1, Set 2 and Set 3.

In addition, children also take part in Guided Reading lessons using the Rigby Star books. For home reading, we use the Oxford Reading Tree reading scheme which is book-banded with a range of other books to supplement this and provide a broader reading experience for our children.
